Are you ready to do some drawing? No matter what your background, age, or experience is, there’s a Big Draw LA event for you all over Southern California during October. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise indicated.

    Check out the Coast Art Zone during Coast, the City of Santa Monica's open streets event. Help create a group drawing based on the literary “exquisite corpse”. Parts of a long paper scroll are unfurled and parts are hidden. Base your drawing off of the parts you can see to make a glorious mashup! Best way to get here is by Metro, we're four blocks from the Downtown Santa Monica stop at the corner of Ocean Ave and Broadway. Otherwise, park at any of the public structures nearby and walk over!     It's that time of year again! 24 Hour Comics Day at The Comic Bug! The Challenge? Produce a 24 page comic book completely from scratch in the span of 24 hours! You can do it! You're supposed to show up with 24 blank pieces of paper, or your drawing tablet or however you make your magic, and at 12:00 p.m. sharp on Saturday BLAM! think up your idea and go to town making your comic! The gang at The Comic Bug will keep you fueled with coffee, tacos, pizza, sandwiches throughout the day, night and into the morning! Mike will have his creepy film fest (that gets weirder throughout the evening and then kid friendly as the sun rises) and the part that gets many folks most excited... we're holding our annual 50% OFF graphic novels, trade paperbacks and back issues sale from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.! Stock up on some of the stories you've had your eye on but haven't pulled the trigger on just yet! At HALF OFF! And don't forget to check out all of the amazing and delirious artists cranking away at their stories! Take note, The Comic Bug is hosting it's event ONE WEEK LATER than the official day, OUR EVENT takes place Saturday/Sunday October 14 & 15, NOT on the 7th and 8th like many other shops that weekend. The Festival encourages known neighborhood artists and identifies and brings together arts makers who are unknown even in their own Skid Row neighborhood.
